Meet Yasmin Leake
Yasmin graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy from Northumbria University in 2013. Working with a range of settings, Yasmin began her OT career on an elderly ward in an acute hospital setting before travelling to Australia for 2 years where she developed support worker experience within a range of Special Educational Needs schools and mainstream settings with children and young people supporting their special needs.
Upon returning from her travels Yasmin began working in an elderly rehab setting for one year and moved on to the area that interests her most - Paediatric Occupational Therapy. Yasmin has 10 years OT experience with over 5 years in paediatric OT, specialising in the assessment and treatment of children nd young people with a range of conditions such as Developmental Co-ordination Disorder (DCD), Autism, ADHD and sensory regulation. Yasmin also works with genetic conditions such as Downs Syndrome and cerebral palsy as well as general motor difficulties, developmental delay and attention and concentration concerns. Yasmin identifies goals that are child led and guides therapy sessions with a fun, interactive and engaging approach to empower children to become independent in their everyday skills.
Yasmin is a Specialist Paediatric OT with training in Ayres Sensory Integration (ASI) which is a practice that helps people process sensory information from their bodies and environment,
Delivering a holistic OT approach, Yasmin is also a qualified Yoga teacher nad movement enthusiast and completed training in yoga for sensory integration.
Recently Yasmin qualified in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) which is an evidence based practice to support children’s mental health. The tapping technique involves applying pressure to specific meridian points on the body to help manage emotions and balance energy in the body.
